Sam Montgomery isn’t known for being the most original blues player around – he emulates Kokomo Arnold and Peetie Wheatstraw a little too well. But don’t you wish more people emulated Arnold and Wheatstraw? He’s a better slide guitar player than he is a vocalist (he doesn’t actually pull off the Wheatstraw vocal patterns very well) but his recordings are still a lot of fun, originality aside.

Thanks!
Great blues. It sounds a little like Robert Johnson. I hope you got more songs from Sam Montgomery.
From Sweden with love, see ya!
I love the Sam Montgommery. Heard it years ago on a Brit label called Down with the Game! Bin looking for it since so thanks.
Sounds like Skip James to me..
Hi there, I downloaded the two King Solomon Hill tracks and I noticed there are a few more, I cant seem to find them anywhere though. There were MP3 links to some of them on the Document Records site but they no longer work. Is there any chance of seeing his other songs on this site? :)
Big thanks for the sam collins aswell :D
his “yodel” at the end of some of the stanzas just screams wheatstraw to me. i can hear both james and johnson though.
i’ll try to put up some other king solomon hill tracks later this week.
I’m not quite understanding what all
this is supposed to be about?
Must be me or something…
How green is the grass on the other side of the fence?
Not much. Don’t believe it I tell you.
