I’ll be away from the blog for the rest of the week. Sorry!

But. I’m posting five blues songs today, now don’t go and spoil the week by downloading them all today. One a day, for five days. I know it’s tempting to open Christmas gifts early, but then all the surprise is gone and all you are left with is wrapping papers and some socks.

Monday: Merline Johnson – Don’t You Make Me High
Tuesday: Rev. Gary Davis – You Can Go Home
Wednesday: Washboard Sam – Diggin’ My Potatoes
Thursday: Tudie Wells – Baby’s Got The Blues
Friday: Dock Boggs – Sammie, Where You Been So Long?

It sure is difficult to find information about Tudie Wells! Who knows more about her?

All I know is it’s Christmas already.

Peter, did you post a Tommy Roe version of “Stagger Lee”? I can’t remember. I have it if you’re curious (just got it on LP some time back; it’s okay but far from my favorite version).

Oh, sweeeet! emusic.com seems to have the whole dang Document Records catalog! Including the album with the Tudie Wells cut that Peter posted (http://www.emusic.com/album/10863/10863910.html)…

And I haven’t even finished working my way through the Yazoo stuff. Maybe if I give up sleep…
